The first thing my mentor taught me is the importance of understanding the key roles needed to create the final product, which in our case was a short or commercial film. They gave me a bunch of drums, and I really learned what it means to be a director, publisher and director of photography (DP). Many people have misconceptions about the exact role of each profession. But each has its own subtle nuances. Believe me, there is a difference between a strong DP snapshot and the fact that the editor cut off and correctly colored it. Without this knowledge, there is no way to create a team capable of timely executing a project. Essential question: what is required for each work to finalize the final product? The following is a breakdown of the tasks for each function.
The chief, the head of the house or the man; the administrator has a long list of responsibilities. When he does not accept and does not shoot a film, he takes control of the artistic and dramatic aspects of the place. See the scenario that ensures the satisfaction of all customer needs. He or she works closely with the technical team to ensure that all reports are synchronized so that everyone understands their vision on the board. The director’s job is to start and work with the cast to express the emotions. If you do not have a good manager, you can do yourself a favor and surrender while you are.
Director of photography (DP)
Often confused with the director because of his central position behind the camera, DP is responsible for the technical aspects necessary to achieve the director’s vision. DP controls lighting, exhibition and that the session is equipped with all necessary equipment (for example, lenses, cameras, platforms, etc.); all this, ensuring that the project remains below budget. Should we turn off the lights or cancel the scene? DP works with the art department and suffices to answer this question. Is the correct lens used? Otherwise, the composition of the frame can be turned off. Having a well-informed PD increases the cost of production and, most importantly, reduces costs. Do not decide to hire a DP a bit.
The puzzle publisher, who cares about collecting every detail after production, is over, the editor is an extremely important role. Each image is counted, and the publisher’s task is to set the correct time for proper scrolling. The publisher should monitor the tempo and pace at work to ensure that the cut is visually appealing. A common misconception is that the publisher only develops there what has been filmed in an orderly way. Nevertheless, they are the last line of creativity before the final product is delivered to the client. Between changing the size of the clips to ensure the correct composition, using video copies to provide white and white proteins, finding the right editor for your project is not an easy task.
So pay attention. Currently, anyone can put a “director” on their LinkedIn profile. However, do not forget to sit down with them, review your wallet before making specific decisions. It is hoped that with this, headaches can be minimized.
